ARUNAVA MAJUMDER AND VAISHNAVI ADKAR BAG THE COVETED SINGLES TITLES AT THE MSLTA – YONEX SUNRISE APMTA ALL INDIA RANKING NATIONAL SERIES (7) TENNIS TOURNAMENT 2020

A fine display of the highest quality of tennis was put on show by Arunava Majumder And Vaishnavi Adkar as they went on to win the Boys Singles and Girls Singles title respectively after coming out on top in MSLTA – Yonex Sunrise APMTA All India Ranking National Series (7) Tennis Tournament for boys and girls in the Under-16 age category.

Arunava Majumder went on to beat Sahil Tambat 6-2 6-0 to claim The Boys Singles title. The Boys Doubles title was scooped by Jaisnav Shinde and Daksh Prasad who defeated Sahil Tambat and Ritvik Nadikude 7-5 6-4. It was a double delight for Vaishnavi Adkar who beat Lakshmi Arunkumar 6-2 6-3 in the Girls Singles final. Competitors in the singles, the duo teamed up to win the Girls Doubles as they went on to beat Suryanshi Tanwar and Sai Bhyar 6-2 6-3. The gruelling round of matches began last week with two days of qualifying rounds being held on January 25 and 26. The battle to claim the top prize commenced with the main draw of matches that began on Monday, January 27 with the final round of matches being played in front of a large crowd today.

Speaking about the tournament, Prashant Sutar, President – Maharashtra Tennis Association, said, “Not only are we immensely proud today seeing the high quality of tennis on display by these budding superstars, but have been left spellbound seeing the high number of spectators today. While we are putting our best foot forward towards promoting the sport in the state, I am sure that these boys and girls will be inspired to see how popular the game has become today. We, along with the Adar Poonawalla Maharashtra Tennis Academy, look to produce more quality players who can go on to represent the state and the country. I congratulate all the winners and look forward to meeting more such upcoming talent in future editions.”

The tournament is helmed by The All India Tennis Association (AITA), the governing body of tennis in India. The association is affiliated by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and Asian Tennis Federation (ATF).
