Shape India, a Pune-based physical education organisation for children of age 4 to 11 years, has organised the Shape Super Cup 2019. Shape Super Cup is an elementary level football tournament which is taking place in Pune in two zones – PMC and PCMC. The matches kicked off on 25th November and the finale is all set to take place on December 8th at SKP Campus, Balewadi. Shape Super Cup is an initiative to promote and develop football skills in children, during their foundation years.
Shape Super Cup is a first of its kind Inter-school Football tournament in Pune that caters to students of grades from KG to 5th Grade. The teams are a mix of boys and girls playing together. The endeavour is to bring premium schools across Pune together in this sports initiative. Total 216 teams from more than 100 schools registered in Shape Super Cup 2019. Each school sent their best teams to compete with other teams of similar grades. The champions will emerge at each grade level. The PMC zone matches have wrapped up with Oxford World School, Orbis School, Phoenix World School and Fortune High School emerging as semi-finalists. The PCMC zone matches are underway at the SKP Campus in Balewadi. The primary objective of the Cup is to provide exposure in football and also to identify natural talent from the foundation years children.
“This is the third season of Shape Super Cup. The tremendous support from schools and enthusiasm of the children has motivated us to organise this tournament for three consecutive years” said Raju Deb, co-founder and CEO Shape India.
Shape India started the Shape Super Cup in 2017 with 35 teams and has seen accelerated growth with 216 teams this year. The finale of Shape Super Cup 2019 is all set to take place on 8th December and 7 trophies are ready to be claimed by the winners of 2019. Shape India hopes to take the tournament to the next level by expanding to more cities in the coming years.
