Shell Lubricants, the global market leader in finished lubricants, recently organised a Masterclass training session for 28 bike mechanics and Independent Workshop Owners (IWS) in Pune. Making the best of Shell’s technological know-how and commitment towards its partners, the session was part of the company’s nationwide initiative aiming to engage and train approximately 7000 mechanics and IWSs across 16 Indian cities. The Pune Masterclass session gave the participants an opportunity to meet technical experts, learn about the future of two-wheeler technology, understand the potential changes in their business and gain certificates and recognition.

Shell is running the global Masterclass competition across several countries like Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Vietnam and Indonesia, from where the top winners will be selected in November in Malaysia. The Shell Advance Masterclass sessions provide a platform for mechanics to get training, access to globally designed modules and meet experts at a local and global level. The Pune session was one of the several regional level training programmes based on which, certain mechanics will qualify for the national round scheduled in Delhi in last week of September. The top ten best performers thereon, will get the opportunity to represent India at a global level in Malaysia and a chance to see the Moto GP racing event live!

Ms. Mansi Tripathy, Country Head, Shell Lubricants, India, said, “We, at Shell Lubricants aim to keep our valued partners updated with the latest industry developments, technologies and best practices. The mechanic community is the most important part of our value chain and they are the ones capable of influencing the decision of a buyer. The biker lubricant brand, Shell Advance values their contribution and are trying to give back to them by upskilling them.  We are positive that these will further help them in keeping pace with the advances in the automotive sector. We also greatly appreciate the efforts put in by our expert trainers who are helping us at every step of our journey of this initiative”.

Mr. Prasad Paithankar, a mechanic at the Masterclass meet said, “My biggest takeaway was what service excellence needs to be given to our customers; something more than just a conventional repair service. Besides gaining knowledge on ABS, FI system and other future trends that would be useful in our day to day business, I was really fascinated with Shell’s SHARE digital program that is now helping me track my business, rewards and enroll new customers. I really appreciate Shell Lubricants’ efforts and would urge them to conduct these meets on a larger level where we can also include our larger group of technicians. I am really glad to have associated with Shell and look forward to more such sessions.”

Another mechanic, Mr. Samir Dhamdhere, present at the meet said, “Meeting and conversing with the various experts here has helped us in understanding the technological developments in the automotive sector and how we can better serve our customers with the latest best practices. I liked the SHARE app by Shell and have learnt a lot from the technical sessions on service excellence and relationship building with our customers. I am immensely thankful to Shell Lubricants for coming up with such initiatives that have not only helped me, but all of my fellow mechanics at my workshop.”

Shell Lubricants has been a pioneer in developing technologically advanced solutions to optimise performance across the automotive industry. The Shell Advance Motorcycle oils with PurePlus Technology, which converts pure natural gas into clear base oil devoid of any crude oil impurities, are dedicated bike oils with excellent performance characteristics achieved by carefully blending quality base oils and applying Shell’s formulation know-how. The Advance Masterclass sessions are created to extend such technological knowledge via engaging learning programmes and projects.
